Gumnut Babies - May Gibbs (Paper Rose Studios) DT Crystal Watts

Good Morning Crafters!
I hope your all well! Can you believe that we are half way through 2022? I certainly cant, This year is just flying by... something I guess that's made it feel like its going quicker is my pending arrivals!
If you follow Craft On The Run socials you might have seen the announcement that my partner and I are expecting Triplets in a few months time!

Its such an exciting and emotional time in our household and crafting more than ever is becoming a time to just relax and take my mind off the chaos that's about to enter the house.
With the Theme this month being "AUSSIE" and babies on the mind I was given the opportunity to use my beautiful May Gibbs Classic Papers - by Paper Rose Studios.
Here's what i have created to share with you this month....

I just absolutely adore Gumnut Babies and the story of how they came about through the eyes and imagination of May Gibbs - if you don't know this story please do yourself a favor and google it!

These papers are so special and I simply couldn't cut them up... so instead I've made some artwork for the babies nurseries that will eventually have there names on them and be put into a shadow box and hung on the walls.

Layout #1 - Flutterbys

I started by finding the pages amongst the Classics Collection that had enough space in order for me to put a name and a new born photo on it when the time comes, In this case it was the
May Gibbs - Classics F and I used 3 pieces.

Of these 3 pieces of cardstock I left one completely whole and the other two I cut out highlights of leaves, Flutterbys (butterfly's) and of course the Gumnut Babies.

Using Double sided foam mount tape stack up all the matching pieces so that your page starts to come to life - you could even stack more if you wanted to.

You can see that around the page I have used glossy accents to highlight different parts of the artwork that will just shine through the shadow boxes.

Using Glass domes to give the effect of water droplets, and loads of bling, rhinestones and craft glitter to bling up the page.

Layout #2 - Naughty Mantis

For my second page I've used the May Gibbs - Classics D paper. Again Taking 3 pieces of this as well and doing exactly the same as the first layout.

Seriously are they just not the cutest damn things? and have been around since 1914!

Here is some close ups of how they look layered upon one another.

Once again using those beautiful Glass domes from uniquely creative to capture what looks like dew drops on the gum leaves and a good amount of glitter and bling to brighten the page.

These papers are just sometimes to gorgeous to do anything other than appreciate the artwork, I cant wait to get them finished when the little ones arrive and get them on the walls of the nursery... stayed tuned for a tutorial on how I put the final one together later this month

Once again here are the two layouts side by side

Thank you so much for reading/following along today, I once again hope I've inspired you just to use some of your papers as artwork especially if there ones you don't want to cut up! Make them a talking piece of a room by hanging them on walls around your house, or just like I've done make them for those around you as a special gift for the pending arrival in there life.
