Hello my crafty friends.
Here we are half way through the year and on the downward slope to Chrissy.
No doubt it will be here before we know it.
But, lets not think about that for a while.
Instead lets think about all our Australian men and woman who have made the ultimate sacrifice and made us proud and for those who gave their lives.
I'd like to share this very emotional and memorable moment with you.
In 2011 my husband an Ex Australia Navy Officer and I along with friends experienced the ANZAC Day Ceremony on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
Words can not describe the emotions and feelings that run through you as you lie there at night looking up at the million stars above and then stand there in the morning as the sun rises with the bugle playing "The Last Post" and you think of those who stood there before you.
An experience of a lifetime that will remain in our hearts forever.
"Lest We Forget"
So, that being said here for you I have my "Aussie" themed layout for you.
I have used some of the beautiful Feature Art Collection - Lest We Forget.
The colours of this Feature Art collection are beautiful with that old vintage feel with brown's and sepia's
and the beautiful reds of the Poppy's that stand out giving it that hint of colour.
My background page is actually a sheet from Uniquely Creative - Tapestry Of Time which I cut to 11 x 11 inches and mounted to a co-ordinating brown cardstock.
I've taken a piece from the "War time" page with the newspaper clipping tore it to a rectangular shape and distressed and curled the edges and inked them in Distress Oxide - Vintage Photo.
On the reverse was the brown with stars on it, I've cut a strip of that as well and placed it behind.
Then I firstly cut my embellishments needed from the "At the Front" page before I went ahead and cut red pieces to pop in behind the main piece in the centre to add interest and dimension.
I mounted my photos on a matching red cardstock and placed them on with dimensionals.
I mounted the "Lest we Forget" banner on as well.
With the saying " for your tomorrow we gave our today" underneath.
Remembering to ink distress my pieces.
From the "Embellishments" sheet I fussy cut the poppy's and leaves and also the rifle and hat.
I added that making sure I layered the pieces with dimensionals as well.
I went ahead and made another small arrangement of poppy's to the top corner adding the fussy cut "Gallipoli" and I also to the right of that later used some rub on stickers to add 2011.
So, that completes my layout.
I hope you like it.
A beautiful collection of papers to use if you have a family member you would like to honour for their service to Australia.
I hope you'll share it with us if you do.
Until next time.
Happy Crafting.
Niki
