SUMMER! - Crystal Watts

Good Morning Crafters! It's me Crystal back here with you today.
This month the design team will take you through multiple layouts using CUT-FILES using different collections.
Whether you're a Pro with Cut-files, Never used them or maybe even just a beginner...
(or like me your still trying to find the best way to do them)
You will have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills over the course of the month by mixing methods!
Leave me a comment and tell me your tips and trips I would love to hear from you?!

My First Layout this month is one I've created with the beautiful coastal/beach themed collection by SIMPLE STORIES - Simple Vintage Coastal.

Here is the layout I'll be sharing with you today

Today I'm going to take you through how I put this one together :)
Here you will see I've used a Cut-file with the word SUMMER, but you could use anything within the theme of your photos/ Collection you are using.

Firstly lets do our Cut-file, I have used both the Simple Vintage Coastal Guava/Sand and the Simple Vintage Coastal Kiwi/Seaside alternated with the different letters.

I find it easier to do an approximate measurement of how big I'm going to need each letter and then pre cut them as seen in the pictures below.

Using a craft knife cut off the excess paper after adhering it to the letter using a fine tip glue pen or a fine squeeze bottle so that you don't end up with glue everywhere. I use the Paper Roses - Clear Liquid Glue.

* Remember to flip your CF over otherwise you'll end up having backwards letters.

Continue to adhere your paper/cardstock to your letters adhering and layering over the last remembering to trip off any excess.

* Below you will see that two of the letters are clear, this is because I wanted to create shakers with them so I have used acetate in exactly the same method as above.

Once all of your pieces are adhered down to your CF we can now create the shakers.

Using a thin foam mount tape place this around the edge of each shaker over the acetate making sure its all touching without any gaps (as you don't want glitter falling out )

Place Micro-beads/Glitter/Rhinestones on top of acetate, and peel backing off foam edging.

Using coordinating paper now you want to do the same as the firsts steps, and adhere down on top of foam mount to create your shaker.
(As seen in below photos.)

Now your shaker CF is done you can place this to one side, Lets move onto the base of your layout.

Take a Sheet of Simple Vintage Coastal - Sandy Toes and you want to cut 2 pieces that are
2'' x 12'' this is just so you can save most of the paper for another project.

Adhere these two strips to the back of a piece of Simple Vintage Coastal - Let's get Lost. However only along one side as you want to be able tear and curl to expose the paper underneath ( As shown in photos below)
Once finished you want to pop this aside also for just a moment while we create a few embellishments.

Vintage Artistry - Shore Rub-on's are what you want to use next.
Here you will see that I've created ephemera pieces, All you want to do is pick the rub-on's you want to use and transfer them onto some white cardstock and then fussy cut them out and place to one side.

At this point you want to grab your base layout back, using some more of the rub-on's transfer them onto your base paper using your Cut-File as a guide.
(As you want them to stick out the sides.)

It might end up looking something like this - If it does your on the right track.

Go ahead and adhere your CF towards the bottom left hand corner on your base paper, using foam mount tape.

*Remember not to foam mount your shakers as these will already be the right size

Its now time for photos, here I've used a photo that is 4''x3'' mounted onto white cardstock and a 3''x2'' photo that I have mounted underneath a little resin frame and then cut the excess off.

Adhere these with your preferred adhesive up towards the right hand corner.

Now it's time to add your Ephemera and bling to bring your page to life.
Use a mix of both foam tape and other adhesives to create layers and dimensions.
Adding things like pearls, micro beads glass domes and even shells gives it a real "Beach" vibe.

See pictures below for placements.

Finally, (optional) go ahead and flick over some white paint using a paint brush.

Your Layout is now complete!
