Its a Baby Shower complete with Lolly Buffet - DIY

Welcome

I thought I would share with you all my sister's Baby Shower that my daughter threw for her last October 2013.
My daughter asked if I would like to help her with the decorations.
I was more than happy to give her a hand.
She wanted to create something special as my sister was having a girl (her first).
She had waited a long time for her.
Crystal wanted to have a lolly buffet as a feature of the shower. So we went in search of some prices & companies to see if it could be achieved. Unfortunately the budget wasn't going to stretch that far, so we decided, it can't be that hard...lets do our own!!
So off we went to find the items needed to accomplish this.
I searched thrift stores, discount stores & our home to find the items needed.
We went to a warehouse called FAL to buy all the sweets to fill the jars.
Buying in bulk cuts the cost down.

This jar was a vase that we used to hold our Baby Teeth.
These were Cadbury Chocolate Bars that I covered in foil and decorative scrapbooking paper. Wrapped with ribbon, Die cut scallop circle and sentiment.

This gorgeous mirror I found in Thingz. It was part of collection they had on display. It really suited our theme.

Crystal found these little milk bottles at a discount store.
She talked to the owner and ordered them in and as she wanted quite a few, they were able to give her a discount.

This was the final setup on the day. Lots of pink...my sister doesn't do pink!!
We found as many pink/red/white lollies to go with the theme.
These sweet jars were found at discount stores.
The 'It's a Girl' plaque was from Thingz.

This was the end result.
BEAUTIFUL.

I also wanted to have something my sister could take away from the day as a memento of her baby shower. This is a memory tree. I repurposed an item that I borrowed from Made with Memories and decorated it accordingly. I used Kaiser flowers and some ribbon to decorate the stems of the tree. I found some cute little pink pegs to attach the photo's with. I used my little instamax camera and then had the guests leave a message on their photo for Mum.

My daughter repurposed this large Baby bottle (it came with tiny baby bottle treats) and decided to used it for Baby's First Shoe Fund....a girl needs her shoes right??
The end result was well worth
the time and money to DIY and the satisfaction that you did it.
The compliments from guests made it all worth while.
The look on my sister's face when she seen the end result was priceless.
A job well done Crystal!!

Selfies!!! Portrait Simple Stories Album.

Hi There
I wanted to share a little project that I completed last year.
It was inspired by an article that I seen in a scrapbook magazine.
When my husband and I are out at a function or on holiday, I like to take pictures of us (selfies). Most of these pictures where taken on our holiday to the United States in 2012.

This is the front cover of my Simple Stories Album. I randomly stamped images over the cover and used paper scraps from my stash.

On this page I used a range of embellishments from my stash.
Chipboard stickers, clock, tag, stamps, washi tape and my Dymo for the journaling.
On this page I created the little flag banner using stickers from Simple Stories. I mounted them on thin chipboard and then used twine to embellish.

I am not fond of the pic on this page, as I took it at the wrong angle. Double chin alert!! With this page I used lots of cog and clock embellishments. The angel wings are from Kaszazz's embellishment range. The tag is from a stationary supply shop. I found the calendar embellishments in Big W.

On this page, I stamped the background with a range of travel stamps I have in my collection. I love the frame ( looks like an old polaroid camera). The tag has some journaling on it. The bling is from Kaiser and I have used their flowers in the bottom corner to tie in with the floral headband I was wearing.

For the embellishments on this page I wanted to keep it simple. I used twine and the compass embellishment from Kaszazz. The twine was attached with the Tim Holtz tiny attacher. The button is Simple Stories. I also used the twine to highlight the month the photo was taken.

This is the back page of the album. It was given to my husband as a gift. I have used part of the Simple Stories paper for the journaling and washi tape for the background, along with some stamping. The letter stickers are from Kmart. Clock embellishment is Kaszazz.
I also wanted to give the album a little project life feel. I love that it comes with these pocket pages. Great for pictures and journaling. The compass embellishment is from Kaszazz.
Papers are Simple Stories.

The frame border on this page is a chipboard square. I covered it with striped washi tape. I have used washi tape for the background, added some stamps and used the calendar embellishment behind the frame. The angel wings are from Kaszazz.

This page has more use of cog embellishments. These are from Kaszazz. I have again stamped the background with travel stamps and used twine to attach the envelope embellishment.

With this page I used washi tape, Kaiser flowers, calendar embellishment and the photo frame. Simple Stories paper pad and stamps for the background.

With this page I have added some hessian. The brad's are from Bo Bunny Zoology range. Chipboard film frame is from my stash.

On this page I have used the other half of the chipboard film strip. The cog embellishment is from Spotlight in their jewellery section. Paper clips & angel wings are from Kaszazz. The heart chipboard embellishment is from ScrapMatts. Papers Simple Stories.

The embellishment words on this page are from Teresa Collins world traveller range. The clock and compass are from Kaszazz.
To finish off the pages, I doodled around the edges of the page with my Memento pen.
I used Versa Pinecone Ink to ink the edges of my pages and the stamping.
I also used Memento Black ink for some of the stamping.

This project took a whole weekend to complete at scrap camp but I was so happy with it, because it really took me out of my comfort zone. All the pages were designed spontaneously. It sits pride of place in my craft room.

Items used in this project are from Simple Stories - Life Documented
Kaszazz Stamps and embellishments
Kaiser flowers and stamps
Teresa Collins - World Traveller range.

Ready As I'll Ever Be - Violet Crush

This layout was designed using the Kaiser Violet Crush Papers.
This layout was submitted for consideration for Made with Memories Design Team 2014.

I really love this range from Kaiser, the colours are vibrant and blend well together.
I felt that with the script paper, I had to use a photo of myself.
When I designed this page, I had no idea what photo I was going to use,
but this self portrait was perfect.
Might also of helped that I had purple in my hair too!!
The sentiments are all about self belief and being kind to yourself.
They really suit my personality.
The butterflies are from the sticker sheet and are attached using foam mount.
The butterfly strip is actually the barcode strip, just cut down to fit.
I also wanted to add a little stitching to pull the whole layout together.
I am very happy with the result.

Violet Crush

Hi All

This layout was designed for Made with Memories Design Team. I used the Violet Crush range from Kaiser. I love this range....helps a little that purple is my favourite colour!!

I love the simplicity of this layout. The sentiment really went well with my photo's. I recently went to Sydney for a Bon Jovi Fan Club trip and we had a 80's themed cruise on Darling Harbour.
The colours fit with the papers.

The butterfly is from the sticker sheet and was attached using foam mount tape.

I wanted to add a little dimension to my page, so I rolled back the corner of my paper and placed a butterfly from the sticker sheet under the corner.

The only embellishments used were the butterfly stickers, as this particular piece of paper was already very busy with the flower pattern.

By using the black paper in the background, I was able to use it for journaling.

Repurposed Stamp Block

Hi There
I completed this project a little while ago but I hadn't put it on my blog, so I thought I would share it with you.
I was recently sorting my stamp collection and took all my stamps from my wood mounted blocks and turned them into cling back, so they can be used on acrylic blocks.
So I had these wood blocks left over and didn't want to throw them out, but didn't know what to do with them.
I wanted to repurposed them in some way and this was the end result.

I cleaned the block to remove the sticky from it and then I  covered the block in some travel themed washi tape, I then took some clock embellishments and glued them to the front of the block with glossy accents.
I then used some little glass bottles and stuck them to the top of the block, placed some photo pin holders into the cork tops and took a piece of printed paper with the word journey on it and rolled it up and placed inside the clear bottle, to give me a message in a bottle effect.

This has now been repurposed into a cute little photo holder.

Products used : Washi Tape
                        : Glossy Accents
                        : Glass Bottles
                        : Clock Embellishments
                        : Tim Holtz mini cogs.

Pack Your Bags Travel Case

I had to take pictures of this project that my daughter just completed recently.
She wanted something to give her best friend for her 21st Birthday. Something she would remember forever.
She organised a surprise holiday to Bali, but didn't quite know how to present her with it until she came across this little case.
She created this beautiful travel case, all the while trying to keep it a secret from her friend.

She used an old luggage tag and copied it onto some card stock and created her own. The numbers relate to her friend's birthday and the date they are leaving.

This was the inside of the case. She placed items relevant to their holiday.

She placed the travel itinerary inside , along with a handwritten letter and some Bali coins.

This plane embellishment was hung from the lid with the Airline they are flying with written on the side.

She wrapped up some Bali brochures of the places she has booked for them to go. Swimming with the dolphins is on the agenda.

These are some more embellishments she placed inside the top of the case.

I love that she decorated the whole case from front to back and inside. She did a wonderful job and her friend was overwhelmed and lost for words upon presentation of such a beautiful gift.
There is nothing like the true value of friendship.

Exquisite - Take Note

This single page layout has been designed with the same range of papers - Take Note by Kaiser.

Products used : Take Note papers from Kaiser
                       : Prima Flowers
                           : ScrapMatts Chipboard Words
                           : Pinecone Ink
                           : Pearl Antique Brad
I used a sheet from the 6' x 6' paper pad for the photo mat. The word banner is the barcode cut from the bottom of the 12'x12' paper. The scallop edge on the right hand side was a cut out embellishment used from the back of the 6'x6' paper pad.

These flowers are from my stash. The brown tones really went well with the layout. From memory they are Prima flowers and the layered paper flower is Tim Holtz.
These chipboard words are from ScrapMatts.
I just inked around them with a little Pinecone ink.

This page designed itself really. I love the simplicity of it. I also love how I was able to design two completely different layout's using the same paper range.
